on Solaris...

Andrei Tarkovsky's Solaris poster - 1972

Plot summary HERE

out there
some intelligence

but whose

a collective
bowl of the cosmos
where some universal conscience
is
without past, present or future

it simply
builds
grows

a personal reservoir
of shades and lights
living in formless
maddening
chaos

imagine finding
a wife
dead
for ten years

on

Solaris

The age old question "what IS out there? Alternate universes? The possibilities abound. Your very interesting poem is thought provoking and leads us to wonder,,,

Oh yes.. we found the same movie.. and yes what is that entity... there is something so chilling of being controlled... yet the lull of being back with something lost is so tempting...

I think I saw the movie but cannot be sure in this "personal reservoir
of shades and lights"

- an imaginative take on the theme

Ah yes, what IS out thing? Do we really want to know? I am definitely of the "be careful what you ask for" school of thought on this. The devil you know versus the alien you don't?

I'm listening to this now (again) on my kindle. Like your choice and the poem.

We don't know what is stored where. They say spoken words go out in the universe and keep spinning into infinity. Nice work!

Whoa, that ending is a kicker! Loved it. I actually saw what could only have been a UFO one time...with my neighbors....it hovered soundlessly over the back field for 40 minutes then slowly moved away - so sound of engine or any noise one would expect to keep it aloft.

I like the way this spills down, with subtle rhyme.

You had me at bowl of cosmos! What a great source of material, and what a rich piece you brought to the table. Viva la and thanks for posting to the out of standard.

Board me on that cosmic bus! It's amazing how imaginations of outermost so correspond to those of innermost -- the Celtic sidhe was an eternal place right under our feet -- and this "personal reservoir" is somewhere west of the sun and east of the heart's moon. When do we go? Great stuff Gemma!
