numbers don't lie...

fallen
minus reason
added myth to legend
divided by old circumstance
graceless

turncoats
multiplied shame
political castles
exponents of dark indices
dust mites

Poetry form: cinquain

NOTES
The image is of the winning sculpture in the 2014 Montalto Sculpture Competition at Red Hill.
It is entitled Fall From Grace by Adam Stone.
The two cinquains intend to surprise by warping many illusions together
creating a surprise network in a numbers game.

There's a terrifying symmetry between the two cinquains, conclusions (concussions?) equal to the poor sculpture's fall from grace. As we say here in America, same difference ... same cheek-smooshing result. Same old tale (if only the turncoats could see it!)

People never forget (or forgive) a mistake. A foolish thing one does will be remembered years later, and no matter how much one now regrets the error, they will not be forgiven by the majority.

The second stanza really brings back the reasons of the deliberate falsehoods of political manipulations... Turncoats is a great word.

Intriguing...I enjoy the thought you've put into this...the cinquains paired with the diverse imagery is so effective.

Numbers don't lie..Well, it depends on who is manipulating them. This is a powerful statement of our current political mess.

My comment disappeared.......I found this to be very clever. Read it twice and enjoyed the progression. Amazing sculpture too.

That statue is really compelling, and your words express the tension and turmoil and failure in it perfectly.
