more than wooden...

believe that we are more than wooden lives
carved from some ancient neolithic trees
locked in a wilderness outside your world

believe that we can fuel and light your world
bring wisdom, insight to your troubled lives
and show you ways to cherish Nature's trees

believe that we can teach you ways of trees
and lead you in a self-sufficient world
such knowledge is one key to peaceful lives

respect your trees, respect your lives, our world

NOTE
The images are of sculptures scattered round the Enchanted Adventure Garden at Arthurs Seat.
Still, today, our indigenous peoples are struggling to find dignity and respect.

The form here is so perfectly reinforcing of the message, with the cadence it invokes, and the rhyme for just the right seasoning and emphasis. I love the voice of the trees, the voice of something primal we once knew and listened to for purpose and wholeness...really eloquent sculpture you chose as well. Thanks Gemma for this excellent tritina. I especially like the opening line.

What stunning sculptures! I love the way the wood reveals the faces. I really liked the way you worked your tercets with the same end words in different contexts. The whole is very impressive.

Thank you so much, as a fellow-Aussie, for highlighting these sculptures and what they represent, and for the link to the trail-blazing indigenous women.
