half-baked...

I wanted all the money in the world
but I could not spend it or even give it away

Remember the monkey's paw

I wished to go back to the days when being a homemaker were valued
                         but I became a handmaid

He wanted to be the greatest musician who ever lived
          and so he died

She wanted to be forever young

Remember Dorian Gray

Poetry form: free verse

Love what you did here, Gemma. A poem born of other art-filled tales. The line about having to give up life in other to be great feels particularly strong... and so does the image of Dorian Gray, when considering a face that wants to be "forever young".

Always remember the consequences
Memento Mori still applies

Much wisdom to be found in the pages of fiction. I so like the way you set this out.
