delicious...

you seem
perplexed
frozen in
rigid emotion

shadow sylphs
drift round you
like shafts of
secrets
shaping your feelings
by default

but you know
those shadows
are like decoys
they begin at a source
but end
somewhere else

to me
your youth was dismembered
savoured
owned

your face
your ruptured face
so like
a vicious bite
in a delicious apple

and your upper lip

a knife
enjoying the sensual flow

but stopped

a little trademark
a calling card

you seem
perplexed

no eyes
to see my nightmare
no ears
to hear my blubbering remorse

no mouth of yours
can voice

my evil

This is an excellent ekphrastic piece. I love the description of the head as a bitten apple.

The trophy room in Evil's tummy -- terrifying, but that's what the remnants of history give us, like those embracing mummies at Pompeii. A part of self in this remant too, where the surviving self looks back on what got lost. Great stuff.

The use of the apple make me think of original sin, and just maybe this is what's remain..

Filled with such sharp and intense visuals, under your pen this fragment of a face says more than many a living one of what it is to be human. For me, the center of the poem speaks the strongest, the truth of the heart, but the bracketing beginning and ending make a perfect setting for that dark gem.

"to hear my blubbering remorse"... that adds a whole nother dimension to the story. Great take on an interesting picture.

The head as a bitten apple..takes me to Eden and then the struggle of sin (or I should say the struggle of self's good and bad side.)

I could stare at your descriptions for days... delighting in how your poems show every why... Love the metaphorical and concrete images you sculpt... the places they make me look into.

I enjoyed this so much, one of my favourite lines is
"like shafts of
secrets
shaping your feelings" It's true our secrets can shape our feelings, more than we realize. I chose this picture as well. I hope you enjoy my take on it as much as I enjoyed yours.
