Outside

picture frames
unreeled

sandy spaces
untilled

pale footprints
unfilled

childhood faces
unpainted

surging waters
untainted

smiles
broken

silence
spoken

outside

awoken

surging waters
painted

childhood faces
tainted

pale footprints
tilled

sandy spaces
filled
tilled
tainted
painted

picture frames
re-sealed

What an interesting take on this prompt. The images come together nicely, and the turn in the poem sharpens the effect of each.

I love your abstract approach to poetry, Gemma. You allowed lovely images to fill my mind.

Wow, how wonderful to find you and this fascinating poem at Real Toads today. I love the photograph, and the first part of your poem describes it perfectly. I think that may be why the second part unsettled me somewhat, but it's a grand write.

I really like the way you have woven together the words in a variety of ways here. The brevity and clarity speak loudly for me. Wonderful photo as well!

Your painting is fabulous. Do you sell prints? If so, email me with sizes at sharplittlepencil (at) gmail, thanks.

Loved your perspective, kids with noses pressed against windows, waiting for a grownup to take them outside. And all of nature is "disturbed." And nature delights! Nicely done, Gemma! Amy

Early morning at the beach ... fresh breeze, sound of the surf and birds, sand perfectly groomed by the lake or ocean... and then you hear the voices of children and laughter and everything is disrupted in a good way.
