Lines

 lines
 connect
 and protect
 mark, guide and run
 a wordless mission
 a vision of silence
 intent on being secure
 zoned for reliability
just like the face before me right now
that has kept me close to his lines through time

This is an interesting comparison - the final lines really brought it home for me.

Really well done, Gemma--the metaphor's one perfect image coming sharply into focus in the end line. Thanks so much for trying it out and sharing with us.

.. 'zoned for reliability, security' ~~ if only we could snap our fingers, make it happen around the world. Fine write ..

I agree with Hedge and Kerry here...well done on image and metaphor fit to form. :)

I was just thinking yesterday how telephone lines like the one pictured are anachronisms in the age of wireless communication.

Really enjoyed this...especially the ending. Nice use of the form. My first time here--linking an old one that's here: http://liv2write2day.wordpress.com/2010/09/29/one-shot-wednesday-flight-off-of-half-dome/
