Jacek Yerka - Erosion
sands
invade lives
lost desert wastelands
souls eroded by hunger
bodies craving for loving
an urban dreamscape
or nightmare
pit
wings
reaching high
face smiling with light
a child with dreams from Sweden
a saint working in Zinder
a friend to many
ascends to
mum

Wow, Gemma, so moving. I read your other words about Esther and looked at her life a bit too and these Jacob's Stars are even more emotional to me now knowing more of the backstory. What a huge and tragic loss of a woman so young, a woman who seemed to give of herself so freely to bring others joy and comfort. The word choices and imagery in your first star are so true to what Africa is like and the second star honors Esther so beautifully.
Fantastic Star Gemma! It tells a poignant story in barely a few words. And the story-line creates an added boost for humanity!

We need someone like her here in the so called lucky country. Maybe someoned like her could help the homeless sleeping outside Paddington library in freezing conditions in Sydney's posh eastern Suburbs !
Wow ---- Esther was quite a woman. So very moving.
